The Band |

Revolution Child are a superb 90s sounding rock'n'roll band that kick ass with a lot of energy! Dean Ortega (ex- Neverland and Tribe of Gypsies ) fronts the band, singing just as well as he always has and
also playing rhythm guitar. The band have just released a limited number of their debut, "The Answer" and it is well worth having. See the review below and also check out their official site where you can get more info and also join the revolution!
Here's is the band's 'official' biography:
The band, Revolution Child, is a celebration of music and spirit. It has cast aside the current cynicism of rock and roll, preferring to pursue musical satisfaction with playful vengeance. Stripped of all excesses, Revolution Child exposes nothing but the guts and glory of music. This is no mission to solve all society's problems - This is in your face power rock, pushed hard, sweated for and something to feel good about.

It contains 2 tracks similar to the style from "The Answer" and 2 other tracks which, in my opinion, show the band moving forward and developing their music. Both this and the denut "The Answer" can be bought via the band's new and official Website at www.revolutionchild.com . Here you can join their mailing list and listen to some of their music.

The Answer (1998) Dean’s new band, "Revolution Child", is quite far removed from his previous two bands, "Neverland" and "Tribe of Gypsies". First of all in their heaviness - not that it's heavy metal, thank god, but certainly hard ferocious rock, with a vengeance. This is not your standard 80’s hard rock record though, as may have been expected - Revolution Child have a touch of flare giving a modern sound and, dare I say it, sounding quite grungey, mainly in the guitar department. Enter the Emperor thuds in as quite a heavy introduction piece, but the music soon kicks in with Don't You Want to Be and the energy doesn't stop for several songs. Jimi Punk is an original piece with some long guitar solos and Hole rocks hard and fast. The Zoo slows the tempo down a bit, but is still intense, and leads well onto the eponymous track, Revolution Child, that starts off as a rocker and then turns into a ballad half way through! The ballad gives only a short pause to cleanse the senses before the energy rush returns with Come On, which must be the simplest song on the album (I there are only two different guitar riffs!). It is extremely catchy and energetic, hardly any lyrics, but a favourite. Countless Wired sets the pace for the rest of the album as both The Raven and Break of Death are also slower but effective and more atmospheric rockers than what we've had already. Had Enough is a grungey attempt at a blues tune, which some will like and some will hate (I like it) and Rum is just the perfect way to finish off the album, with a bit of fun. "Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum" chortles Dean as the album closes.
I wouldn't say that "The Answer" is a musical masterpiece, but then Revolution Child do not claim it is. It is what they say it is - "in your face power rock.....and something to feel good about". Well thanks a lot, I did. Buy and get energetic! |
