JUNIORS
The juniors have the exclusive use of the courts on Saturday mornings for coaching sessions. Coaching takes place all year round from 9:30 am. Children are allocated to groups based on age and experience. They are given advice on entering appropriate tournaments and are encouraged to compete with senior members to help them progress.
On achieving a suitable standard they may be invited to attend senior practices and competitions. Junior club members have exclusive use of the courts from 9:30 - 12 noon on Sundays and are supervised by adults.
A summer school has been run by the Club since 1989. This consists of two five-day courses run by LTA qualified coaches designed to meet the needs of beginners and improvers aged 6-16 and prove to be very popular. The intensive course is wide-ranging, giving every student the opportunity to excel. Instruction, demonstration and fun games are supplemented by the use of video cameras, rebound nets, short tennis equipment and targets. Courses conclude with a fun tournament, team games and a barbecue, to which parents are welcome. Juniors are an integral part of the Club and included in all playing and social activities where practical.
SOCIAL FUNCTIONS
The committee organises a number of social functions throughout the year including an Annual Dinner, Quiz Nights, American Tournaments, Barbecues and Pizza evenings, and is always open to new ideas! Members come to play tennis and relax, and therefore the atmosphere is very friendly and informal. The licensed bar (for the use of senior members only) helps everything to go with a swing.
