Macclesfield 11th Oct 2003

My Macclesfield Experience started on the Friday evening rather than the Saturday. I'd gone straight up from work to save on journeys and was booked into a Hotel for the night so I could have a bit of a sleep in ! I needed it after a late night chez Jez ! Jez had kindly invited me to join him and another friend Brian for a few pre-event games round his house in the evening. We ordered in pizza, opened some wine and got a few games in so Jez could remove his 'first game curse' from his armies. Caroline, Jez's wife went off to watch Sex in the City but did return to join us having a good laugh at Jez losing later. It was almost like an evening at Alan's - turn up, eat and drink, chat amiably to his wife, play HOTT, win HOTT, go home.

Saturday morning saw me there in plenty of time to meet the usual suspects.

Game 1

First up was Eddy Richards using his Ratmen, mainly warband with blades (one the general), shooters and Behemoth. I defended and put down minimal terrain. I split my forces placing Judge Jack and Anderson on the left Dredd with the Blades in the centre. Eddy went for the long line in the centre and we both advanced toward each other.

I used Jack and Anderson to flank his line and started to roll him up with flank contacts. Eddy went for bust and threw the warband in against my blades but got pushed back down the line and losing . A darting run by a shooter saw Dredd recoil twice and a turn for recoiling into the Justice building.

Eddy's Blade general ended up isolated and I got enough pips to swamp him and counter-attack the warband with my blades…which was silly, as even overlapped Eddy managed to get 2 Blades. Fortunately I got the Ratmen general and won 44-4.
