Round Alan's again last night and 3 new armies to play with between us, 4 if you count the second variant of mine.
I got away on time for a change and was early; this didn't mean we eat earlier and then started playing sooner as Alan makes cheese sauce the same way he plays HOTT…. slowly and methodically ;)
First up was The Angel of Mons against Alan's new Red Martian army. The Martians are another mixture of Airboats, Blades & Hordes but with a rather nice little Artillery piece – Mad Scientist surrounded by lab accoutrements and Ray Gun – A picture will doubtless appear on the Stronghold shortly. Seems like Artillery pieces are the ones to make pretty !!
Alan defended and deployed with his Blades to the centre with
Artillery behind them, Hordes on the left and Airboats & Flyer on the right
with a Horde as backup.
I faced the aerials with my Aerial Hero and Flyer, all the Hordes (including
the general) in the centre to take the hill and my Shooters to the right.
Alan got bad pips so more or less stayed put, I advanced with everything,
Shooters taking the rough on the right, Hordes getting the hill and my aerials
in position to cover either the Blades or Alan's aerials.

Alan now got some pips and elected for aerial combat and advanced towards me. The Flyers had a bit of a dog-fight for no casualties. Alan had wheeld his airboats round so St George leapt on a flank and caused one to turn, it lost the combat and could recoil through it's mate and went down.

Alan moved his Ray Gun around to cover the aerials but I managed to knock off his Flyer in the next combat. Alan now advance his Blade/Horde line a little as he was now 5 AP down and took a pop at St George with the ray gun but St George was of stout and valiant heart. I picked on the last Airboat with a frontal and flank and it too went down. I advanced my Shooters to pick ofs his Hordes and sent the Flyer to harass the rear.

Alan replace a Horde or two and pinned my Flyer near his Stronghold and took a shot at my Horde general with the Artillery but it wasn't enough, shortly his Blade general was mobbed by St George in the rear and English longwbowmen. My Hordes had advanced to with about 50 paces of Alan's line and were surrounding him, his general turned to face and with no recoil died backing into the ferocious line of bayonets begind him.

Attacker victory ! Unless John Carter is around Martians seem to flounder. Funniest comment was Alan as he mumbled "Now I know what it's like to be on the other end of Flash Gordon"; Macwar attendees might appreciate that :-)
I went for the Paladin version of Mons with the Artillery general. Alan used the Elephantmen (list on the Stronghold) and defended.
He lined up on the left Riders on the left, Blades extrending to the right, and God awaiting a summoning.

Cunningly I lined up the Shooters opposite his Riders on my right supported by Hordes with the Artillery to their left and more Hordes supporting, St George and the Royal Flying Corps were just left of centre on the board.

Alan moved off and started the slow elephant march towards me. St George, he of valiant heart and a true Englishmen raced off to meet the enemy whilst the flyer went to threaten the exposed flanks of the Blades. Alan scurried out of the rough with his Blades as they are not good against Paladins or flyers in the rough… nor too good out of the rough either as st George aided by the Flyer started to roll up the line of Blades.

With no sign of Kali the God turning up Alan had to act and move forward. My line reciprocated and got into shooting range but only got a recoil. Finally Kali arrived and so the Flyer and St George parted company in an effort to save at least one of them and cause maximum damage.

I also manged to kill a Rider leaving Alan with 8AP down to my 0. Kali did her thing and killed off St George to much booing and hissing from the British lines. Incensed the British HMGs (Shooters) mowed down another rider and moved in on the ivory trade. With 10AP down alan had to work fast with Kali…Any guesses as to Alan's next role ? Look in the top right corner of the picture below !!

Kali went home and left her followers to become pretty items of jewelry. Another attacker victory and further evidence that there is no need to defend against a God, they can lose the game all on their own. My Artillery general got a couple of shots off but never did much else, and neither did the Hordes.
There were pictures for games 3 and 4 but I can't be bothered to post them !
