So far there's only one, but hopefully I'll get the opportunity to write more:
- Fenney, " Texture Compression using Low-Frequency Signal Modulation ", which was presented at Graphics Hardware 2003 .
This technique is being used under the name of PVR-TC in the PowerVR MBX technology.
Note that this version of the paper contains some very minor corrections to the diagrams and text that appeared in the printed journal. The slides for this talk are also now available at the GH 2003 web site (under program and presentations). These present some additional material as well as better RMS results that reflect some improvements made to the compressor software in the interim.
- Comparison of Several Popular Texture Compression Schemes .(not quite complete)
- An utterly incomplete Test of Image Sampling Patterns .
<Currently offline> While still in the 3D mode, we now present the following (unfinished) tome...
The early history of PowerVR.
While preparing documents on image compression/processing, it became clear that the copyright status of many commonly used images is rather vague. To avoid copyright problems, I only used images in the texture compression paper which I was 100% certain I could publish.
Since it is important for others to be able to compare different algorithms, I am allowing my "Rainbow Lorikeet" image (Thumbnail below) to be used for research purposes and non-commercial publication in papers/journals. For other uses please contact me.![]()
