Artist's Statement
(Cont/d ...)
This series encompasses all these emotions and more using light and color to speak to the viewer, sometimes we can feel the presence of God with us and other times we feel alone and afraid, this is when we need to stop and take a look around us and see the beauty of His creation and to know that He is never far away.
Which leads to another series of work called "Time can wait".
The antithesis in this statement is that it does not and we are living in very fast and changing times. Where although the theme running through this series appears to be a scene of calm, a man fishing in a gorge, there is an underlying current.
We cannot always judge people by what we see on the outside, as we are complex and emotional beings. We need to learn to slow down and take a look around once in a while and try to understand what is happening to those around us. Hence "Time can wait".
I was born and brought up in South Africa in a very privileged time for few, things are changing now worldwide and my work I hope tries to capture some of the emotions I feel living in this day.
