From: John Rankin

One of the best books I've read in a long time is called The Demon-Haunted World (Science as a Candle in the Dark) by Carl Sagan.

Sagan teaches us how to make intelligent decisions about our own lives. If you have family members or friends who are always spouting off about the latest pseudo-scientific discovery or paranormal occurence, this book will help you with a lucid rebuttal.

In the words of Richard Dawkins, an author you featured last week: "[Sagan] is wise, humane, witty, well read and incapable of composing a dull sentence....I wish I had written 'The Demon Haunted World'. Having failed to do so the least I can do is press it upon my friends. Please read this book."

Well, with Dawkins plugging it like that, how could I not include this recommendation?

Also this week, Bartcop wrote in to specially recommend The Best Democracy Money Can Buy by Greg Palast. You can read all about that in the Bartcop Books Library.
