A Personal note regarding the classes, by Pasco David SifuPasco David Sifu teaches the classical method of Wing Chun, to keep to the high standard set and passed down to him. The classes he instructs, are of mixed ability. Beginner students and intermediates are instructed individually, in a semi-private way to his/her own personal level. Every student is taught, tested and graded by Sifu Pasco David. The classes having a personal feel, with 15-20 students regularly attending. In this way everyone can be taught with great attention to their personal progress.
Wing Chun has spread around the world like wild fire and is captivating the minds of the people, but quantity is not delivering quality. There are so many people claiming to be instructors overnight, beginners are often being mislead by non-genuine Sifu's. It is very difficult for a beginner to know the difference between who is real and who is not. They should do their research before joining these so called Wing Chun clubs.
To be able to teach CWC Kung Fu effectively, you would have to be taught by the real Master first hand, and there is only a few of them left , and to dedicate yourself to around 15 year's part time regular practice, also teaching for at least 5 years or more before you can call yourself a Sifu, Unfortunately, these days practitioners are covering the whole system in 3 years part time and teaching because the movements in Wing Chun are easy for beginners to learn.
Interested new students are choosing to learn from books, videos, seminars and visiting schools overseas. These can be of interest to all, but the real Art of C.W.C Kung fu has to be passed down from teacher to student personally. So If you have the chance to learn the real thing, 'learn correctly' or you will waste money, time and effort and hinder your potential in the process!
There are those people who feel that the Wing Chun System is incomplete, due to their shallow understanding from the start (or a poor teacher). These are people often born from the learning method just described. Don't be one of them.
The usual argument against Wing Chun is that there are no 'evident' ground, movements, long-range strikes, or even saying that training in 5 different Martial Art Systems is better than one, Sifu Pasco states to these people;
'That the gate is wide but the road to enlightenment is narrow'.
We have a saying that 'its better to have one sharp knife that cuts than to have 5 that don’t'. More systems do not mean more Kung Fu or better Kung fu. How many systems do you need to punch someone on the nose?
Classical Wing Chun Kung fu is an excellent example of a minimalist Martial Art (less meaning more). If we could improve CWC Kung fu fighting skill to just 3 movements or one form, we would but Sifu Pasco states;
'It is easy to add a form, a set of drills or some techniques, but to subtract from the system this is a different thing altogether. This is already a complete and comprehensive system. People tend to forget the idea behind the Art, condensing to just what is essential and getting rid of any excess. Although the system appears very simple to beginners, it is very sophisticated once they have invested some time in understanding the art form'.
Late Great Grandmaster Yip man spent around 50-70 years practicing and perfecting the Art form and felt he could do little more.
