A Guest For Breakfast
My companions and I had left the sikkh dominated region of Amritsar very early that morning and were now well into the back blocks of Northern India. We had stopped to make some breakfast when we were unexpectedly joined by the first of many hindu sadhus that we would encounter in our travels.
We soon came to learn that the real holy men - though perhaps less interestingly attired - did not request 4 spoons of nescafe in their coffee, steal our cigarettes nor pose obligingly for photographs and then demand, with considerable menace, exorbitant fees for the performance.
