Rules:


1) The Durham Dales Challenge is open to any person over the age of 16 on the day.

Those under 16 can entry if they are accompanied by their parent or guardian.


2) Each entrant must carry or wear the following gear at all times:


Waterproofs, Sweater/Fleece Emergency Food, Working Torch,

Survival Bag, Whistle, Suitable footwear that are in good condition

Trousers to be carried if shorts are worn.


Each group can share the following gear, but must walk together at all times: Compass, First Aid Kit. Maps: OS: 1-50000 map 92 (Barnard Castle and Richmond) or OS: 1-25000 Outdoor Leisure map 31 Teesdale or North Pennines (Photocopies will not be accepted)


There will be a kit check at the start. Entrants who do not meet these minimum standards will not be allowed to start, and anyone found without the required gear on route will be disqualified.


3) Checkpoints must be visited in the correct sequence. You are responsible for having your tally cancelled at each checkpoint.


4) Retire only at checkpoints and inform a marshal. Transport will be provided to the finish. Retire at checkpoints 1&5 only in dire emergency. These checkpoints will be close when the sweepers pass through.


5) We will operate a cut off point at checkpoint 7. If you arrive after 1800 you will be retired.


6) Please observe the Country Code. However we regret that no dogs are allowed on this walk.


7) Entrant should receive no outside assistance during the event.


8) If you withdraw before the date, No refunds will be made.


9) No entry on the day


10) Entries are accepted at the discretion of the organisers and you may be disqualified unless you comply with these rules.
