Welcome to The Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The Yorkshire Dales are situated within the counties of North Yorkshire and Cumbria. They lie between Kirkby Stephen in the north, Leyburn in the east, Skipton in the south, and Kirkby Lonsdale and Sedbergh in the west. While not as instantly dramatic as the Lake District, the Dales are more remote. It is much easier to get away from the crowds in the Dales places like Malham Cove and The Three Peaks do attract a great number of people throughout the year.There are many peaks that rise above 2000 feet in this area, each has its own rewarding views.There are mountains, waterfalls, ruined Castles and Abbeys, amazing cave systems including the awesome Gaping Gill, miles of Limestone plateau's and endless remote moorland not easily accessible without a walk of some distance. To get the most enjoyment out of the Dales, it is best to leave the car and explore by foot, below are a number of walks within the dales if you find that you want a challenging walk in beautiful countryside but want to avoid the crowds, then come to The Dales.
