* Much better: skiing hard on reasonable skis, a little uncontrolled on the ice. Great shooting, reasonably quick. Running my own race rather than interacting tactically, so able to focus on my own performance.

* Skiing well, with good skis, especially on the last lap. Disappointing shooting. Can I learn to ski 3 laps like that last, without blowing up or spoiling the shooting? I often start too fast, and I think that today was probably a better way to ski - and despite it I did not shoot well, so perhaps the causal link is not as strong as one intuitively expects.

* Skiing really strongly on very good skis. Started fast and kept it up - not my usual story at all. Lost ~30" when one ski popped off. Good standing shoots at last; prone very disappointing. Successful new 'micropeaking' regime - hard session on Thursday, felt great today.

* Pouring rain, crazily wet course. I was lucky to be off early at number 3, so had much better conditions than later starters. With 3 penalties I did not take advantage of the opportunity, but a reasonable percentage, given the penalties. Reasonable skis (surprisingly, used a new fine stonegrind with 1mm rill), and reasonable skiing; shooting quickly standing.

* Desperately hard, the most painful biathlon I have done. Hard to tell how the skis were as I skied alone, but the conditions felt slow. Annoying to miss 2 in the standing shoot, but after the huge hill in the second loop I was under a lot of physiological stress. Avoided interacting tactically with Marc Walker who started 30" behind me, which was good.

* Skiing conservatively as my legs still hurt from Friday's sprint. Delighted to shoot clear in 10 - for the first time ever. A shame to do it in a relay when it does not matter, and when I could have used another 6 rounds without anyone complaining.

* Relay leg times should be taken with a pinch of salt as different individuals are confronted with different tactical circumstances and (possibly) snow conditions.

* Moderate race: I did not feel like going fast, and by the time Jason caught me (from a minute behind) I knew that my skis were not going well. Some distraction in the range on my last shoot: the announcer said that Dixon had 2 penalties as his total, and I realised that I could beat him (the timing of the announcement told me I must be a few seconds quicker): and as soon as I thought that, I was sunk. Then I went flat on my face on the way out of the range, which did not help.

* Started bullishly and felt the effects on laps 2 & 3. V disappointing to miss my first two standing shots, as I really thought I would clear today. Great skis, supplied by Martin Glagow. Acceptable as my first WC race, but indicative of a lot of work to do for next year.

* Last chance for a good one. Again, disappointing shooting although conditions were not good. Hard work compensating for slow skis - a mystery as I had the same wax and structure as the others, who had good skis. Skiing hard, but technique very poor towards the end, as a result of the misbehaviour of the skis.
