  • Merseyside Dance & Drama Centre
The Merseyside Dance Centre has established a deserved reputation as a highly-respected academy for dance and theatre performance. The Faculty originated in small dancing classes given by Miss Owen at various locations throughout Merseyside and North Wales, and by 1956 the school had its own premises in Birkenhead, which subsequently flourished and expanded to include full-time students. By 1975, the Birkenhead Studios had undergone major structural alterations, providing vastly improved facilities to extend the range of courses available, as well as catering for increasing numbers of full-time students. However, just three years later the demand for places had outgrown these improvements, and a search was undertaken for larger premises. In 1983, a home was found at 13-17 Camden Street, Liverpool, and the establishment was re-named 'The Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre'.
