The Rally of the Midlands is
an ideal place for spectators, with almost all of the stages designed
with spectators in mind. It's also located close to Nuneaton, Matt's home
town, so the fan club should be out in force.
"Just when we started
to get a feel for the car on gravel its back to square one and the all
new experience of super fast tarmac driving," explains Matt Beebe.
"With this in mind I hope we can have a good clean run to the finish
and put on a good show for all the local supporters and sponsors.
"The MG ZR has been developed
as a road car so this tarmac event should show just how good these little
cars are, and how much fun they are to drive. There will be a lot more
grip on the road so the driving style will be more like racing, getting
the right line rather than sliding the car about and we can afford to
be more aggressive with the brakes, steering and getting back on the throttle
because there will be more grip with slick tyres."
"Richard has competed
on the event several times and I have spectated at two of the four venues
used, so our combined knowledge of the event should allow us to push hard
when we need to and just be a little cautious at times after learning
the hard way on the last round that one small mistake can mean the end
of the rally," explains Matt.
"The most important thing
is to finish the event, to gain more experience, especially on tarmac,
to give MG, Trinity Motors, Heartland Evening News and all our other local
sponsors as much exposure as possible and to earn as many points as we
can in the championship. We are out there to win!"
