Quality Systems Procedure Writing

Course purpose

To provide instruction on the principles and techniques of preparing quality related operating procedures and work instructions.

Aim

To provide practical and theoretical training to ensure written instructions reflect actual practices.

Objectives

On completion of the course the delegates should be able to:

  • identify the required contents of a procedure/work instruction
  • prepare documentation in a standard format
  • be aware of good document control practices

Pre-course experience

A basic understanding of the departmental operating methods or where available the Company quality system.

Who should attend?

Departmental managers or personnel who have been tasked to prepare detailed procedures or work instructions.

Programme

Principles of documentation preparation and their part in the quality management system including:-

  • Company quality policy
  • quality system manuals and there structure
  • the planning required for quality
  • what are procedures
  • the scope of work instructions
  • why have forms and records?
  • the need and identification for documented procedures
  • procedural elements
  • collecting information and preparation of the procedure
  • controlling issue, distribution and revision of documents
  • the requirement to verify procedures against working practices
  • ensuring that procedures are updated to reflect ongoing changes and improvements in the management system

A practical procedure writing exercise is included within the course.
