CITB Construction Skill Certification Scheme

Course purpose

To provide workers with Health and Safety awareness training to ensure that they have a good basic knowledge of Construction Site Health and Safety.

Aim

To enable construction workers to understand the responsibilities placed on themselves and others under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and European Directives.

Objectives

To give delegates an understanding of the main factors that effects the health, safety and welfare of people within their place of work.

By the end of the course delegates will understand the following:-

  • Workplace Health and Safety
  • Accidents
  • Manual Handling
  • Work Equipment
  • Fire Safety
  • Electricity
  • First Aid Requirements

Pre-course experience

None required

Who should attend?

All site employees who require to have a basic knowledge of Health and Safety.

Programme

The course has a minimum contact time of six hours for full delivery.

The following topics will be covered:-

  • Health and Safety at Work legislation
  • Accident Reporting and emergency procedures
  • Accident Prevention
  • Health and Hygiene
  • Manual handling
  • Working at Heights
  • Working with Electricity, underground and overhead cables
  • Use of Hand held equipment
  • Personal Protective equipment
  • Safe use of vehicles
  • Noise and vibration
  • Fire prevention / safety
  • Excavations and confined spaces
  • The control of substances hazardous to health
  • First Aid

All participants who require to be registered will have to undertake an examination which is administered by the CITB and run by Driving Test Centres.

For Companies who subscribe to the CITB a grant aided sum of £ 35 per delegate is available
