www.TVShowsOnDVD.com reports that Paramount is planning to release season 1 on 12 September in North America. No word yet on any extras or price. Play have the region 2 release date as 2 October, with a recommended price of £59.99; Play are offering it for £47.99 - thanks to Jamie for finding that. More details when I have them.
12 videos have been released in the UK by CIC. Each tape has two season 1 episodes.

I thought these were out of print and long gone, but Sophie Sheppard has noticed that amazon.co.uk has them for £5.99 each. SendIt, formerly Blackstar, also in the UK www.sendit.com has them for £4.99 each. Felix Fischer tells me that they are also available from the German site www.avides.com at €14.99 each.
Paramount have issued twelve tapes (so far) in a series called The Best of Mission: Impossible — you should be able to get them online from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Tower, etc, etc. There are two episodes on each tape; expect to pay around $9.99. Thanks to Louis Lapointe for supplying some of this information.

In the US and Canada, Columbia House have a subscription service, with 20 videos available. I couldn't find any reference to Mission: Impossible on their web site (http://www.columbiahouse.com/) recently, although the lack of a search facility doesn't help, but Glen Davis wrote on 21 October 2000 to say he is getting videos from them. The deal was that the first tape cost $4.95 + S&H, and then you received a new tape every 4-6 weeks for $14.95 + S&H, but existing customers can get the first tape for 89 cents.
A posting from Smart-One@webtv.net to the newsgroup (alt.tv.mission-imposs) listed the contents of the videos that Columbia House supply. Each tape has two episodes, the first, in most cases, from season one, and the other drawn from the seasons two or three.
