Tracy Hitchings

Tracy Hitchings is one of the leading vocalists on the English progressive rock scene. She first came to prominence on record with Quasar for THE LORELI (1989) album. The CD is out of print now.

She then joined up with Clive Nolan and Karl Groom for the Strangers On A Train albums THE KEY PART 1: THE PROPHECY (1990) and THE KEY PART 2: THE LABYRINTH (1993). Part 1 was simply known as THE KEY originally but was reissued by SI in 1994 with packaging to match Part 2. Both albums were later reissued on the Verglas label and are still available.

In between the two Strangers On A Train recordings she recorded her own excellent solo album FROM IGNORANCE TO ECSTASY (1991) on SI which has been rereleased on Verglas with a new cover.

Tracy contributed lead on one track on Ulysses' NERONIA (1991), two tracks on Gandalf's GALLERY OF DREAMS (1993) and worked on other abortive projects before she sang lead on the Gandalf album TO OUR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN (1994). She has performed backing vocals on albums by many progressive acts.

She is now lead vocalist with Landmarq featuring on the SCIENCE OF COINCIDENCE (1998) album and on the live compilation THUNDERSTRUCK (1999). A second live album AFTERSHOCK (2002) has been released.

Tracy first came to my attention with her superb work on Clive Nolan and Oliver Wakeman's excellent JABBERWOCKY (1999) and she also appears less prominently on their followup HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES (2002). JABBERWOCKY really is a must have album.
