GSW has been running an integrated programme of Gestalt training organized on a modular basis.
| Gestalt Beginnings | a short basic introductory weekend offered at various locations throughout the South West |
| Fundamentals | an eight day intensive course held in the Autumn
(Six consecutive day-long weekly meetings followed by a weekend) |
| Advanced Training | comprising seven weekends and a five-day residential beginning March/April each year and ending in December. |
Individuals may join the programme at the beginning or, if they have had previous Gestalt training, they may be selected for a later stage.
Some bursaries are available on all courses.
Some courses carry training hours which can be credited towards the Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy awarded by the Gestalt Psychotherapy Training Institute (GPTI) which is an organization registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). GSW is not an accrediting body. Trainees who wish to work towards the GPTI Diploma may usually register as a student member of GPTI in the Advanced stage of the training in consultation with their trainer.
GPTI accredited supervisors and qualified practitioners offer supervision and live supervision practicums for individuals and groups of trainees in clinical and other aspects of Gestalt practice.
A tutor system operates for members of the Advanced Training Group.
Many trainees meet in peer groups to read, discuss and study Gestalt theory and practice as well as offering each other support.
The last Fundamental took place in the autumn of 2001, and the last Advanced Training took place during 2001. As of February 2002 there are no plans to run further Fundamentals and Advanced Trainings.
