Barry
I was born on the 7th October 1939 in Birmingham. My early childhood days and upbringing were at my grandma Russell's house in Barn Close, Stirchley. I attended Pineapple Infants school and when aged about 9 moved to Druids Heath. After a short time there my parents moved to Runcorn Rd in Sparkbrook and my schools were Clifton Rd Junior and Dennis Rd County Modern.

My first job was at Cadbury's and I moved back to live with my Grandparents. At 19 I learned to play guitar & tenor sax and formed a small dance band called The Tempos. In my early 20's with cousins Peter & Paul 'The Hykells' were formed. |

I was married at 26 and had 2 children, but divorced after 6 yrs. Then, having met someone else, I remarried and in 1977 moved to Bideford in North Devon. Music was still part of my life and I played with various West Country groups. My main occupation was as a senior grocery buyer for a regional cash & carry chain. Meanwhile my 2nd marriage ended and I moved to Exmouth to be nearer my head office. |

It was after leaving my job that I met Jean on July 6th 1989 through Dateline. We were married soon afterwards and did a lot of promotional work for them, appearing in T.V ads and on live chat shows.

Since marrying Jean we have lived in Dawlish, Haverfordwest, Elveden, and are now back near Exeter. Along the way I have had a heart by-pass, a replacement aortic valve, angioplasty, and am under continuing treatment for heart disease. Still, I am now blissfully happy as I near my twilight years, although I do miss Nina, my cat. If you wish to read about her and see some photographs click on below. |

I was born on 9th October 1946 in the east end of London and at the age of 6 I moved to live in Teignmouth in Devon. My school was Teignmouth Grammar which I attended until I was 16. Not long after that I married and had three children, twin boys (David and Paul) and a daughter (Anne-Marie). Sadly Anne-Marie died when she was 2 and is buried in Dawlish cemetary.

In 1976 we emigrated to Johannesburg in South Africa and lived in several different locations. We returned to the U.K in 1987 and after a while bought a wool shop in Dawlish. However, my husband could not settle and returned to South Africa on his own. Feeling lonely and vulnerable I decided to join Dateline dating agency and eventually met Barry. In December 1989 Terry and I were divorced. |

Barry and I were married on 23rd February 1990 at Dawlish Methodist church. After eighteen months living in Haverfordwest and losing money on a tachograph franchise, we took over the Village Shop and Post Office on the estate of Lord Iveagh at Elveden, near Thetford in Norfolk. Barry had to have by-pass surgery and a valve replacement and it became too much to run the business and so we sold up in Oct 1993 and returned to Devon. |

Tragically, I lost David in a football match incident in 1996 and his ashes are now with Anne-Marie in Dawlish cemetary. My life is still hectic as Barry needs 'looking after' because of his heart condition, but the garden is now one of my main pastimes. |

For a short while we tried to run a Herbs and Spices franchise but were ripped off and lost a lot of money, which made Barry's condition worse. With encouragement from Barry I began to sing and enjoyed a brief spell playing, singing, and recording music with him before that also became too much for him. (poor old thing)
